Thirty-two members of varying age and experience currently make up our dynamic team. Whether it’s knowledge about physical therapy, nutrition, cinematography, outrigger canoe or life lessons, every paddler contributes to the growth of Northwind as we learn from each other through our strengths and weaknesses. Several of our members continue to pass on their knowledge and love of dragon boat as coaches for local youth teams. Though the team has changed a lot since our founding year, one thing that remains constant is the commitment in working together to reach our goal of competing at the international level. Out of all the races we have participated in across North America, this IDBF Club Crew World Championships in Hungary will be the highest level of competition our crew has reached. Northwind’s road to Hungary started with a unanimous team decision to fully commit to the rigorous training schedule, and we are excited and honored to race alongside other amazing dragon boat teams who also put in a lot of hard work and determination along the way.
